Popis programu
The objective of a doctoral study programme is the completion of a scientific education in the field of archaeology so that the graduate will be able to perform independently scientific work in the Czech Republic and abroad. Doctoral studies of archaeology follow up on the master's degree level of studies. The foundation of doctoral studies consists in writing a dissertation and completing the compulsory and selected elective courses, which correspond to the basic specialisation of the studies of archaeology at the FA USB, i.e.,1) Archaeology of Prehistory and Early Middle Ages, 2) Medieval and Postmedieval Archaeology, 3) Environmental Archaeology, and 4) Archaeological Theory and Method.
In a joint "School of Doctoral Studies in Archaeology" with the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, under the OPVVV project, the student also has the option of other courses offered by the respective institutes. Great emphasis is placed on independent scientific work, which each student has to complete individually based on intensive contact with the teacher.

Informace o studiu
The basic requirement of the doctoral study programme is to attend and pass the compulsory courses with the emphasis on independent research work, both during the preparation of the dissertation and during other activities involving mainly the publication of papers, presentations at conferences abroad or participation in the educational activities of the Archaeological Institute of the FA USB. Another obligation is completing an internship, at least 1 month long, at a foreign university or other academic workplace or, alternatively, participation in a foreign research project. Doctoral students submit individual projects within the Grant-Agency of University of South Bohemia (GAJU) and are also involved in running scientific projects (eg within the Grant-Agency of Czech Republic, GAJU, etc.).

Uplatníte se například jako:- The FA USB doctoral study graduate gets full education in the field of archaeology at a level comparable to doctoral programmes of similar focus, offered at other universities in the Czech Republic and abroad. By completing all compulsory and optional courses as well as writing and successfully defending their dissertation, the graduate will become a mature and professionally qualified researcher, able to operate in the academic environment as well as other institutions in the field of archaeology in the Czech Republic and abroad. The graduate will be able to perform scientific work independently, both in methodological and theoretical respect, will be able to lead scientific projects individually, write scientific publications, lecture at universities, and will have sufficient knowledge of languages for working at foreign workplaces..
