Closing ceremony of the 33rd Summer School of Slavonic Studies

The Summer School of Slavonic Studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia is not only an intensive three-week course of Czech, but also a social event. That is why the organizers are trying to give the students a dignified ending. This year's 33rd year was concluded with a closing ceremony on Friday, August 22, 2025. Students were awarded diplomas confirming their participation in the classes according to groups of different language levels. This officially ended the Summer School of Slavonic Studies 2025. However, some students took the opportunity to spend another weekend in the Czech Republic traveling or doing activities with some of the lecturers.
The Summer School of Slavonic Studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice was officially opened on Monday, August 4, 2025. This year, almost fifty students from Belgium, France, Italy, Mongolia, Japan, Austria, Germany, Taiwan, Poland, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Ukraine and China participated in this year's event. Over the course of three weeks, the participants completed dozens of hours of intensive Czech language instruction under the guidance of experienced lecturers.
However, the program was not focused only on the language aspect. The summer school is regularly visited not only by students interested in Czech, but also by experts and workers from various fields, as well as lovers of Czech history and culture. Therefore, in addition to regular classes, special linguistic seminars dedicated to more complex grammatical phenomena were also included, as well as selected thematic seminars introducing participants to Czech realities and culture, as well as expert lectures by scientists from the Institute of Bohemian Studies of the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia.
The school also included a varied accompanying program. Students went on day trips to Český Krumlov and Hluboká nad Vltavou, took various excursions around České Budějovice, and participated in educational and sporting events. There were also informal social evenings, which contributed to the friendly and international atmosphere of the entire course.
