The University of South Bohemia has received the prestigious PROFFORMANCE International Higher Education Teacher Award 2024/25 (PROFFORMANCE Teacher Award | Profformance) for its TEFE A+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) – an Erasmus+ international teaching practice induction course designed by the TEFE A+ consortium and delivered annually to transnational groups of student teachers.
This international recognition highlights the University’s commitment to innovation in teacher education and its active engagement in shaping the future of international cooperation in higher education. The TEFE A+ project builds on the original Erasmus+ Strategic partnership Teachers of English for Future Europe, which was led by a consortium of European universities and educational institutions between 2020 and 2023 and coordinated by the Faculty of Arts at USB.
The TEFE A+ BIP (TEFE A+ BIP | Best practice presentation) brings together student teachers, teacher educators, and educational stakeholders from TEFE A+ participating countries to explore International Teaching Practice (ITP) as a new approach to preparing future teachers. Through a combination of physical mobility, online collaboration, and intercultural learning, the programme promotes inclusive and accessible internationalisation in teacher education.
The award highlights the importance of programmes that not only focus on student needs but also actively promote the internationalisation of the teaching profession. This is essential for the effective preparation of future teachers of English, as systematic international teaching practice must become an integral part of teacher education programmes in order to prepare graduates for today’s culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms and societies.
