The course composition of the programme is based on a traditional model of philological studies that links the linguistic and literary science component with the civilization-cultural component. Emphasis is also placed on practical language competences of graduates which add a significant added value on the labour market. The linguistic disciplines focus on analysis of the so-called higher levels of the language system (syntax and text) and on developmental aspects of Italian language, in accordance with good practice of the Master's philological disciplines of Czech universities. Literary studies cover mainly the older periods of the Italian literary canon and, in accordance with modern trends, deal with Italian written literature. The programme also includes a specialized component of optional subjects.
